Irene Basile is a policy analyst at the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD), where her work is focused on social impact measurement for the social economy. Since 2017, she also contributed to the OECD Social Impact Investment initiative and, more broadly, policy research on the contribution of private finance to the sustainable development agenda. Previously, she has worked for 10 years as external evaluator on European and national development cooperation programmes.

The role of the public sector in the impact economy

In this session we will put the spotlight on the unique contribution of the public sector in shaping and strengthening the impact ecosystem. We will also take a closer look at the wide range of roles government can play to support the impact economy, build effective partnerships and spur investing for impact. Furthermore, we will highlight potential areas of public sector action based on the OECD Social Entrepreneurship Policy Tool and share insights on international experiences of government interventions from other countries.
